Q: How to stop procrastinating?

Reader,

Question:
How to stop procrastinating?

Answer:
When I notice myself procrastinate, I don't push harder. I create safety.

Procrastination is often a stress response.

When a task feels threatening—
because of pressure, fear of failure, or the expectation of perfection—
my nervous system can interpret it as danger.

So procrastination becomes a protective strategy because it doesn’t feel safe.

When I avoid a task, this is what I do:

  1. Regulate my state.
    I can’t create from a survival state.
    Breathe. Move. Pause.
  2. Break the task into many tiny tasks.
    Progress starts at 1%.
  3. Make the outcome safe.
    Live inside these questions:
What if it doesn’t have to be perfect?
What if finishing is more important than impressing?
I talk to the part of me that’s scared, and let it know:
"You’ll be okay no matter what happens."
  4. Complete the 1% task.
    Celebrate myself.

Love,
Sarita

P.P.S. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the thought of sharing about Being the Creator®—it’s the first time I’m opening the doors twice in one year. So I’m practicing what I teach: regulating, breaking things down, and doing just 1%. This little P.P.S.? That’s my 1%. Love you.
